ON-OFF

BOFFI

Designer: Alberto Colonello

Alberto Colonello has designed a minimalist kitchen for Boffi that takes a different approach to the concept. When unused, the kitchen stays literally "off", that is, it remains closed. Created to look like a single mono block of steel when closed, its unobtrusive exterior boasts metal handles, which are barely visible and merge into the smooth polish of steel. When opened up, the kitchen offers a full set of conventional fixtures and appliances, with enough storage space for miscellaneous items. Additional columns for larger equipment such as refrigerators can be included to the adjacent modules. Its interior furniture can be taken apart manually or by electronic devices. This adds to its flexibility, making the On/Off kitchen a compact, efficient space-saver for the modern home.
